Alice works with local groups and national organizations to bring communities to science, and science to communities.

A few examples of her outreach efforts include:

-
Co-chair of 2017 AGU fall meeting session "Pursuing Water Security in Socio-Hydrological Systems" to motivate a discourse about climate and socio-political drivers of water stress in mountain regions.
-
Whitewater! National Geographic Kids Chapter book featuring Alice's experience with the Maranon Project in Chapter 2: River Unknown, released for sale in July 2017.
-
Read Alice's interview with the American Alpine Club on "Climbers and Climate Change."
-
Curriculum development for non-profits and educational organizations related to winter and mountain hydrology topics, including a snow hydrology unit at High Mountain Institute and an alpine hydrology curriculum workshop for high school teachers, hosted by Mountain Studies Institute in Durango, Colorado.
-
Listen to this short radio story (slide bar to 3:08-5:36) aired on KVNF Colorado Public Radio about Alice's Geography 4100 class getting out into rural communities to help with groundwater contamination concerns in relation to shale gas hydraulic fracturing nearby.
-
Alice's voice supports the missions and messages of funders and organizations she believes in. American Alpine Club has shown strong leadership in helping further our understanding of climbing classrooms and playgrounds. Here's what Alice said about that in the AAC's annual membership publication.
-
Integration of community-based projects into her classes is rewarding for all parties. Check out a few images below from Alice's Geography 4100 students during a groundwater quality sampling campaign with landowners, journalists and environmental professionals on the western slope of Colorado.
